Midwest foodie: Name pretty much gives away what this place specializes in. Lots of scrumptious breakfast options, most involving toast (duhhhh). I got a Monte Cristo and it was the best I’ve ever had. Very important for a NOLA restaurant to capture the local taste profile, and a delicious Monte Cristo is a great start. They also do this puffed pancake called an Aebleskiver. Name sounds weird but they taste great and are a fun twist on pancakes. I really enjoyed my breakfast here and even bought a banana nutella walnut muffin on the way out despite how full I was that tasted as great as it sounds. Price point was perfect for a med student budget. Two thumbs up.
West coast drinks: Coffffffeeeeeee. Lattes, cappuccinos, tea, and…cofffffeeeee! Really good fresh brewed coffee in big homey mugs to help nurse a hangover or gear up for Step 1 studying. Juice and other G rated options to keep you happy and hydrated …not the spot for a boozy brunch but the kind that feels like your own little breakfast secret (despite the line outside). B+
East coast vibes: Your new favorite breakfast nook. On a tucked away street uptown, you might walk past this place by accident if it wasn’t for the tables along the sidewalk outside or the hungry customers waiting to get a table or seated at the bar. It’s a tiny little spot so the customer chatter is loud during a weekend brunch. But weekdays the place doubles as a light filled quiet spot for studying, reading or contemplating why the aebleskivers are so damn good. 9/10
